Overview
Yak & Yeti is a 17,000 square foot, 250-seat, Himalayan-themed restaurant and gift shop at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. Both interior and exterior are designed with great detail to resemble an authentic Nepali village house. An armature of intensely complex structural geometry supports the stunning illusion with structural steel framing, cast-in-place concrete and masonry bearing walls, and composite metal deck floors. An icon for the uniqueness of the complicated design, that the walls shall be a minimum of three inches out of plumb, was stated in the original Disney criteria, and drove the final shop drawing count to exceed 1300 sheets.
