Research and Design on Display
A striking new structure now stands out as a jewel on the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, showcasing the institute’s dedication to research. MBJ was proud to collaborate with HDR Architects, MG McGrath, and Walter P Moore as the structural engineer on the Mayo Clinic Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Building. The building’s dynamic façade, featuring a unique perforated metal panel scrim punctuated by “oculi” windows, balances natural light with privacy and energy efficiency, requiring innovative structural solutions. Thoughtful environmental and labor considerations, including consultations with maintenance teams, ensure the building’s functionality and longevity.
