Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) revitalized its aging 1959 structure with a new 35-gate, 972,000-square-foot terminal designed to meet the needs of today’s travelers. Noted by the city’s mayor as “the most transformative project for New Orleans since the Superdome,” the terminal addresses the vulnerability of its location to natural disasters. MBJ provided steel connection design and delegated framing design for the iconic terminal named Best Airport in North America in both 2022 and 2023.

OUR SOLUTIONS

MBJ provided steel connection design for the primary structure of the new 35-gate Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) terminal. Our team also provided delegated framing design and connection design of the curtain wall support systems to meet serviceability, strength, and architectural requirements provided by the design team. Design included girts, hanger rods, springs, and embeds to concrete columns along with their connections to the primary structure. MBJ coordinated with the design team and steel fabricator to provide an effective and economical system.
